Break of Dawn
Book Two of The Alters

Story Teller
Terra Katherine McKeown
Terra Katherine McKeown (ze/zir) is an agender writer and farmer living in the American Southwest.
Originally from the dripping, verdant forests of the Pacific Northwest, ze first came out as a novelist at nine years old. As a fan of fantasy, monster horror, and evocative journalism, ze wrote for some small literary journals long before the internet made it easier to get fiction in the eyes of readers. Meanwhile, buying into the need for a “real job,” ze moved from radio to academia to social work and bodywork therapies while still writing and occasionally publishing. After ze slipped on a banana peel into zir mid-life crises (prompted by a published friend bringing zir into the 21st century with experience in self-publishing) ze is refocusing on writing and other creative projects.
I really enjoyed the creation of the characters in this novel, especially the main character of Dawn and her various Alters, but all characters were easy to visualize and follow. Although there promises to be another book, many of the main plot points were addressed, leaving the reader with the right amount of closure mixed with curiosity for the next story.
